ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Deziana Torres, MSW

Founder of The LLL Collective Theory

| Author | Speaker | Community Healer Advocate

Deziana Torres is a visionary educator, author, and social impact leader who has transformed her lived experiences into a blueprint for resilience. As the creator of the LLL Collective Theory — Losses + Lessons = Legacy, she has become a powerful voice for healing, empowerment, and purpose-driven leadership in schools , juvenile hall detention facilities, organizations, and communities across California. Born and raised in East Oakland inspired Deziana to serve all those around her.

With a background in social work and over a decade of experience serving youth and families, Deziana blends storytelling, social-emotional learning (SEL), and restorative justice to create spaces where people can heal from what hurt them and rebuild from what taught them. Her signature movement, “Healing Ourselves Heals Our Hoods,” reflects her belief that individual healing fuels collective liberation.

Deziana has facilitated workshops, keynote sessions, and professional development trainings that help educators, community workers, and youth leaders move beyond burnout and back into belonging.

Her work has inspired a generation of people to see that resilience isn’t about surviving—it’s about transforming struggle into strategy and pain into power.

The Formula

At the heart of every session is the LLL Collective Theory:

  • Losses — We confront what’s been taken, lost, or left unspoken.
We name the barriers and acknowledge their weight.

    • Question: What are the recognized losses and their impact?

  • Lessons — We extract the wisdom and growth hidden within adversity.
We move from “Why me?” to “What did this teach me?”

    • Question: What do these losses teach us? What wisdom lives in our wounds?

  • Legacy — We design forward-focused plans rooted in healing, creativity, and purpose. We plant seeds that others can inherit.

    • Question: How can we use our losses and lessons to create a positive change in ourselves, family and our community?

We believe resilience is not just survival—it’s the art of turning struggle into strategy and hardship into heritage. When we heal ourselves, we heal our hoods.

Bring the LLL Collective to your next event, retreat, or initiative—and let’s co-create a legacy worth leaving. For speaking engagements, please reach out to her at thebecomingofher@gmail.com
